Opening May 2019
Nicelle Beauchene and Franklin Parrasch are pleased to announce Parts & Labor, a new cooperatively programmed project-based gallery in a 2,500 sq. foot historic building in Beacon, New York.
Parts & Labor is founded upon an ethic of collaboration that seeks to expand beyond the parameters of established gallery models. Exhibitions will consist primarily of two artist presentations, engaging an emerging to mid-career contemporary artist in conversation with a more historically recognized artist to reframe and re-contextualize important dialogues while allowing intimate conversations to unfold. In pairing artists of different generations, the gallery’s objective is to create narratives that explain the connections to the impulses and inclinations each pair of artists share.
The space will investigate the potential of collective, mutually sustaining practices, shifting the conversation away from staunch individualism toward open dialogue, flexibility, and synergism. Parts & Labor ushers in a return to working together for the sake of artists and their art.
Parts & Labor will open its inaugural exhibition in early May 2019 with work by Rosy Keyser (b. 1974) and Eleanore Mikus (1927 - 2017).
